Conjunto Media Luna
Conjunto Media Luna was founded in 2020 by musician and producer Iván Medellín, inspired by Colombian accordion cumbia and evolving sounds from Bogotá, Monterrey, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, and California. Initially exploring a traditional quartet, Iván transitioned into a solo project blending electronics and accordion. Nowadays he is presenting "S.I.K. (Sociedad Internacional de la Kumbia)", an album fusing electronic sounds and raw accordion, closing a cycle of heavy beats and dark atmospheres with collaborations from artists central to his journey such as Amantes del Futuro, Turbo Sonidero and Mismo Perro. Back in 2021, he released his first 7'' vinyl through Japan's Okra-Jirushi, and contributed to "Paz en la tierra" with Meridian Brothers via Bongo Joe. His debut album, "Noches de Media Luna" (2022), produced by Eblis Alvarez (Meridian Brothers), was recorded at Mambo Negro Records and released by Little Beat More. Conjunto Media Luna toured Mexico, the UK, and Europe in 2023–2024, honoring cumbia tradition while innovating with heavier sounds.
