Akusmi is the new project moniker of French-born, London based composer, musician and producer Pascal Bideau. A highly anticipated new album 'Terra Incognita' will be released on July 3, 2026 on Tonal Union and features performances from Sarathy Korwar, Dudù Kouate, Marysia Osu and more. The album 'Fleeting Future' (2022) received critical acclaim with The Guardian naming it their Contemporary Album of the Month whilst also gaining generous endorsements from essential tastemakers including Gilles Peterson, Benji B and Mary Anne Hobbs all praising it for its hallucinatory, genre-defying blend of cosmic jazz, classical minimalism, fourth world influences, infused with electronic and percussive elements, standing it apart as an inventive and inspirational debut. The creation of the album’s richly colourful and multilayered sound world was originally inspired by Bideau’s journey to Indonesia, where he immersed himself in traditional Gamelan and gong music.
