Alexander Painter is a songwriter and composer based in Brighton, UK. He often uses experimental techniques, DIY technology and improvisation in his work, even building many of his own instruments and fx. With influences ranging from the 70s New York experimental music scene to modal jazz to contemporary classical, pop and even black metal, Alex’s songs attempt to make sense of past and present; conjuring otherworldly imagery from childhood glimpses and the apparently prosaic. A regular collaborator with acts including Orlando Weeks, Tony Njoku, Gazelle Twin, William Doyle and Anna B. Savage, Alex also composes music for film and TV.
