Ali N. Askin composes, produces and performs music in the most diverse genres, styles and formats. He has composed for concert halls as well as for films. Electronic music, jazz tunes and club tracks are as much a part of his works and productions as concert music and music theatre. As a musician (keyboards, electronics), he has been active in a variety of projects and bands. In the early 90s he became known internationally through his work as an arranger and assistant for Frank Zappa & Ensemble Modern (The Yellow Shark, Ensemble Modern Plays Frank Zappa: Greggery Peccary & Other Persuasions ) . For over 20 years he has been a successful film composer for German and International TV and movies. In 2008 he received the German Film Academy Award ("Lola") for Best Filmscore for the movie Leroy (Original Score) . Recent film scores include "Dogs of Berlin" and Barbarians: Season 1 (Soundtrack from the Netflix Series) (both Netflix). In 2022 he received his fourth nomination for best filmmusic by the German Film Academy. This time for his score for the animated family movie Peterchens Mondfahrt / Moonbound (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) . In 2023 he released the album Up Chute - the first featuring his jazz/fusion band project. www.askin.info
