A homegrown r&b act.
I’m Alogte Oho, known as Ghana’s No. 1 Frafra gospel singer. My musical journey started in my early twenties when I recorded my first album, gaining some local recognition. However, a serious accident changed everything. While recovering in the hospital, I wrote “Mam Yinne Wa”—meaning “God, You Love Me So”—as a heartfelt thank you to God for saving my life. Once I recovered, I recorded the song, and it quickly became a hit. That moment marked my rise to the top of the Frafra gospel scene. In 2013, German producer Max Weissenfeldt visited the Frafra region, and while at a bus station, he heard one of my songs playing loudly from a speaker. He was immediately captivated and arranged to meet me. This led to a collaboration, and we recorded my first international 7-inch single, “Zota Yinne.” We followed it with a newly recorded version of “Mam Yinne Wa.” While the original version had already become a local hit, the new release gained worldwide attention, and many new fans discovered my music. Today, I’m grateful for the journey I’ve had with my music. From humble beginnings to international recognition, I continue to spread messages of gratitude, faith, and joy through Frafra gospel.
