About

André Baum is a multi-disciplinary writer, singer, composer, visual artist from New York City. Classically trained in piano, Baum’s innovative blend of house and techno, rock and pop, and art installation and film score has carved out a distinctive voice in contemporary music. Named after André Breton, Baum’s practice is inextricably linked to Surrealism and an exploration of the mind. For over a decade, Baum’s work has spanned various mediums, including numerous collaborations with German artist Rebecca Horn. As a solo recording artist, Baum debuted in 2014 with an EP of indie songs titled “Beyondré is Born.” As a sound artist, Baum crafts installations and improvised performances using voice, live electronics, and field recordings. As one-half of electronic duo People People, Baum released his first 12” on Discobar in 2020, featuring a club remix by techno legend Ricardo Villalobos. Baum hosts a yearly party at Berlin’s Club der Visionaere where he performs live both solo and with People People. In 2023, Baum released a Beyondré LP titled “Berlin Blue” on Chapelle XIV/ Yoyaku, People People’s “Out Of Our Hands” LP on Yoyaku, and a collaborative EP with Chris Korda on Foom. After moving back to NY at the end of 2025, Baum started a record label called Tether as a home for his unreleased music and collaborations, curated for both digital and vinyl. Baum continues to perform, record, and release music for both on and off the dance floor, setting up for a bold 2026.
