Arnaud Fournier

Founding member of HINT (1993), LA PHAZE (1999), DEAD HIPPIES (2013) and ATONALIST (2017), Arnaud Fournier is now embarking for the first time on a fully solo venture, driven by the desire to sculpt sound matter using his instruments: guitars and amps, trumpet and saxophone, samples and effects. His aim is to craft a fully immersive sonic experience, exploring sonic impressionism — from the lightness of a drop of water to the weight of an anvil. As always, it’s about pushing extremes to their limits, confronting beauty with noise, bringing the sensitive and the physical into collision. Arnaud created his solo project during the December 2020 lockdown while in residency at La Friche Antre-Peaux in Bourges, where he played his first performance via livestream. His first in-person concerts followed in November 2021, opening for Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth). His first official track was released on January 12th, 2024, with a music video directed by Jacques Perconte. “100% Black Puzzle”, an 8’40 instrumental, serves as a Yin & Yang mirror response to the iconic “100% White Puzzle” by HINT (Hervé Thomas & Arnaud Fournier), released 30 years earlier. His debut album will be released on October 17th, 2025 on the label Ici d’Ailleurs, featuring guests such as Herman Düne, Frédéric D. Oberland (Oiseaux-Tempête) and Hervé Thomas (Hint — their first collaboration since 1999!).
