A nostalgic, underground son cubano act.
Drawing inspiration from traditional Cuban son, seven young musicians came together in the 1990s to create music with a contemporary edge while preserving the essence of the songs performed by their forefathers. Staying true to an acoustic foundation, they developed a fresh sound with inventive songwriting and a soulful groove. Across four albums and countless tours, they have continued to experiment and evolve. Since 2006, they have collaborated with the legendary drummer @Billy Cobham, unfazed by writing and performing alongside a musician who worked with Miles Davis and whose career reads like a history of modern music, Asere have honed their skills and grown through the experience, eager to explore new horizons. Te've performed with @Totó la Momposina and recorded a single called Échale Salsita, right before the colombian diva saying farewell to stages. Asere have performed over 700 shows in the UK, some hundreds in France, and many across Europe, Latin America, Asia, and Africa. Two tours of over 120 concerts in the USA—many sold out—have marked another milestone in their well-established career. Praised by critics worldwide, Asere are recognised as the new generation carrying forward the legacy of Cuban music. Since the early 20th century, Cuban musical pioneers embraced tradition, crafting poetic, sharp, and socially reflective lyrics. Asere follow in the footsteps of those who paved the way, the same path that crowned legends like Buena Vista Social Club.
