Babo Koro

Babo Koro is a band based in Athens, Greece. Formed in 2018, they released their debut album “Sisyphus” on March 2019. “Sisyphus” has been met with enthusiastic reviews from both the critics and the audience, leading to the band’s energetic appearances in major music festivals and music scenes in Greece (Ziria Music Festival 2019, Balkan Fest 2019, Stavros tou Notou - Main stage etc). Their compositions echo voices from the Balkans and the Mediterranean. In their colorful musical textile, the traditional Greek music, balkan ornaments, polyphonies, swing feel, gypsy wandering, rock bluntness, all meet under modern arrangement and polyrhythms. Their lyrics are a contemporary traditional narrative, and each of their performances balances between a concert and a fiesta, always glorifying human passion. “Sisyphus” is a frame for images, thoughts, feelings, about the revelry as part of the soul that seeks the personal through the collective, about the bittersweet sense of existence, about the similarities through the differences. It’s seeks to meet, to transfuse the laughter, to dispel the tear, to join on the uphill. And, until our sisyphean stone rolls back to the base of the hill, there is plenty of time to watch the dawn within “The Dance’s embrace”, where longing meets passion, and the worlds’ precious join.
