Barabas is the solo project of Hungarian trumpeter, pianist, and composer Lőrinc Barabás. Combining trumpet, piano, synthesizers, and live electronics, his music moves between neoclassical, ambient, contemporary jazz, and electronic sounds, creating a cinematic world of melody, improvisation, and atmospheric textures. Across nearly two decades, Barabás has released twelve albums through solo and ensemble projects. His solo discography includes Sastra (2013), Elevator Dance Music (2015), Algorhythms (2019), and the piano-centered 22 (2023). His latest album, Orbit (2026), brings minimalist piano, expansive synthesizers, electronic rhythms, and trumpet into a meditative soundscape. On stage, Barabas builds immersive performances through live looping, moving fluidly between instruments as compositions and improvisations unfold in real time. He has toured across Europe and the United States, opened for Jean-Michel Jarre, and collaborated with Erik Truffaz, Takuya Kuroda, Niklas Paschburg, and Valerie June. Notable appearances include the EFG London Jazz Festival at the Barbican, Brooklyn Public Library, The Town Hall in New York, Expo 2020 Dubai, and Expo 2025 Osaka. Under the name Barabas, he unites acoustic expression and electronic experimentation in a distinctive musical voice that bridges the concert hall, jazz club, and electronic stage.
