Formerly known as Crocodiles INC., BBCC has evolved from Indie Rock (Heidentum 2015) to Kraut Wave (Altered States of Consciousness 2020). They also released a Meta-Space-Rock-Opera concept album (Michael 2023) and a 50-minute film (Micheal, the film) inspired by Sparks, Devo, Talking Heads, the Rocky Horror Picture Show, and US/UK TV shows from the 1970s. After a few gigs (and a few screenings of the film) in France and Germany, the quintet is now embarking on a new adventure with a more baroque touch. A subtle blend of Crown Rock and Cape pop. Imagine David Byrne and Devo working on the soundtrack of Saturday Knight Fever. The real name of the project: King Michael II and the Trial of the Axe. A new “concept album” with various influences (Weyes Blood, The Monty Pythons, The Flaming Lips, Brian Eno <3, Michel Gondry, David Bowie...). Produced by Théo Cloux (Tioklu), the opus unfolds like a satirical fable, sometimes narrated, sometimes chanted, and often sung. Amidst the soaring lyricism, analog synths, syncopated drums and romantic guitars (whatever that means) there is a flute and even a saxophone! What's more medieval than a saxophone? King Michael II and the Trial of the Axe will be released in May 2026, and BBCC will be performing on stage with costumes and props and an actual axe... if you can believe that?
