Bellcave know there’s beauty in life’s in-betweens. The five-piece New York band have tried to be ugly (In fact, they have multiple demos they’ve called just that: “Ugly.”) But they end up filling their songs with lilting harmonies and crystalline guitar leads that recall the gauzy history of dream pop. They’ve also tried their hand at simple, pretty folk songs. But they coat those in distortion and dissonance. Since forming in 2023, they’ve learned to trust all of their members' individual impulses and obsessions — whether that be folky psychedelia, sleepwalking shoegaze, sun-damaged twee, and even windswept metal and other bruised heavy music — finding that the magic between them, as friends and as a band, comes when they try to do everything, all at once.
