An underground alternative rock act.
Black Holes are Kate (bass, vocals) and Martin (drums). The alternative-rock duo from Prague brings an original bass guitar-drum setup with melodic electronic substance. "I always approached bass more like a guitarist and I've been experimenting with a lot of different effect pedals," says Kate. "We want both of the instruments to stand out and now there is more room for it," adds Martin. The band really enjoys the contrast between massive guitar sound and melodic pop vocals. In November 2022, the band released their second album “Time To Say Goodbye”. The album was received well by critics and led to an interview and the front page coverage of the biggest Czech music magazine “Headliner” writing “Black Holes recorded one of the best Czech rock albums of the year 2022”. Based on their energetic gigs the band was chosen by The Subways on the Czech Republic leg of their 2023 tour. Black Holes also supported: Pip Blom (NL), Jane Weaver (UK), Saint Agnes (UK), Mother's Cake (AT), Deadnotes (DE) and played on international music festival Ahoi Pop! in Linz (AT). The band has recorded two albums and several music videos. Music video for Dispossessed was shot in Hong Kong and was announced in the ČT art TV station culture news segment.
