Blackbird Mantra is a four-piece psych-rock band that was founded in Hamburg in 2017. Their expansive and often contrasting songs have already been compared to the sound of Television, The Doors or Timber Timbre (Ox-Fanzine, Neølyd Magazine). The radio station ByteFM describes their sound as follows: “...as if country guitars in a garage had outlasted the days of punk. Or as if they had briefly fraternized with the ghost of The Gun Club singer Jeffrey Lee Pierce in the swamp of psych-rock and then fell out.” Wherever you place the four guys from Hamburg between the genres of psych, garage and krautrock, it is striking how effortlessly they weave these influences into a spherical, groovy overall sound. Four equal songwriters are at work here, celebrating psychedelic music far from outdated rock clichés. Blackbird Mantra's debut EP “Riverside Bar” was released on the Hamburg label La Pochette Surprise Records in 2018, their debut LP “High And Dry” in 2020 and the live EP “At The Mill” in 2022.
