Next show: New York City, Wed 21 Oct
An underground southern rock act from the local scene.
Born out of a love of the likes of Elmore James and Donna Summer, Brass Knuckle Evangelists is made up of a group of semi-rehabilitated rockers trying their best to stay out of trouble. Think Evel Knevel plugged into a fuzzbox, Muddy Waters wearing KISS makeup, Little Richard running Three Card Monty games at the back door of Studio 54. With zero aspirations (to this day), BKE start out in the cheapest, smelliest, crummiest practice space in all of Manhattan and have somehow been kicking around NYC since 2008 on an endless world tour of the Lower East Side. Covering songs by Savoy Brown and The Sonics, they slowly start writing originals. By 2010 they are laying down tracks at GB’s Juke Joint and bring in Militia Vox for backing vocals at Electric Blue Velvet. Three years later they release their first EP, “No Sin No Soul.” As each show becomes more of a party, a few more originals are put together and recorded. By 2022 (remember that part about zero aspirations?) they release the follow up EP, “More Sin More Soul.” Early 2021, band and friends are shook by the sudden passing of dear friend and guitarist, Chris Goercke. In the fall of that year, the band are proud to be a part of a day celebrating his life and perform an energetic yet emotional set with close friend, Pat Harrington of Geezer on guitar. In November of 2024, the band started releasing a single through music streaming platforms on the first of every month while they continue to work on new music.
