A nostalgic, polished vocal jazz artist.
Calabria Foti (Ca-LA-bria FO-tee) was born into a family of musicians and music educators, and at 12 years old, she began performing and writing songs. In addition to possessing a beautiful voice, she plays jazz guitar, electric bass, and is a trained violinist, having held Concertmaster positions in several symphony orchestras, and has performed on numerous film/TV scores, created the solo violin sound for TV’s “Lisa Simpson”, has recorded with Barbra Streisand, Paul McCartney, Daft Punk, and countless others. In 2014, Calabria recorded "Let's Fall in Love" with Seth MacFarlane which garnered a Grammy nomination. Upon hearing Calabria’s acclaimed vocal album, “A Lovely Way To Spend an Evening”, Foti has received high praise from industry giants Johnny Mathis, Jack Jones, John Pizzarelli, Chris Botti, and others. And in 2019, with the blessing of the Sinatra Family, Calabria recorded Nelson Riddle’s lost arrangement of 'Lush Life', originally intended for Frank Sinatra in 1957, with an orchestra at Capitol Records. Together For Christmas is Ms. Foti’s first Holiday release, and for the first time she is co-releasing with her husband, the virtuoso trombonist/producer, Bob McChesney. The record shines a warm yuletide glow on the couples’ individual artistry with a part-vocal, part-instrumental format, displaying their silky sound so well-known to standards and jazz audiences all over the world. The duo sings a Classic Holiday duet, and Calabria debuts two original songs.
