An underground folk punk act.
Calico's Caravan is a nomadic formation with a unique sound taking its inspirations in the frenziness of the gypsy music, the dark folk and old Delta blues. The four members briefly met in Tasmania in 2012 and ended up working together in California in 2017 where the music project started. Calico Oli had a truckload of compositions where everyone found some space to build up around them; what would then become Calico’s Caravan’s music. With Martin Hébert on the stand-up bass, Geneviève Michaud on the mandolin, Philippe Plante on the lead guitar and Olivier Colard on vocals, guitar and harmonica, the caravan kept on working on this energetic and eclectic sound while travelling between the West Coast and the Southern United-States. After a first album and tour that got interrupted by an irritating pandemic they are now back on the map, touring and finishing a second album with compositions from the abyss of a darkened surviving soul made of guttery folk & gypsy blues disguised in black and white forgotten memories trying to creep back up through the – maybe hopeless - desire of a better world. =----------------------=-------------------------=---------------------------=---------------------------= Calico’s Caravan est une formation nomade au son unique qui prend ses inspirations dans la rythmique endiablée de la musique manouche, l'authenticité du dark folk et la profondeur du Delta blues du début du 20e siècle.
