An underground anti-folk artist.
Singer/songwriter Carol Lipnik spent her childhood wandering the beaten paths of Coney Island, daydreaming about a life in music. As amusement parks withered away, Lipnik's fairytale ideas of R&B, voodoo, and blues took shape. Such vivid imagery eventually led Lipnik to start writing songs. Her early adult years were spent forming her own candied, gritty sound. She and her band, Spookarama, made their debut with My Life as a Singing Mermaid prior to the new millennium. Spookarama's lush Delta blues fever was impressive. In 2002, Lipnik and Spookarama emerged with Hope Street. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, Rovi
