An underground neo soul artist.
Cecilia Barra, born in 1999, is a Milanese singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. After her experience with Fool Arcana, she decided to write, arrange, and produce her first solo album. After a diploma in jazz singing and a master at Berklee College of Music, she found inspiration to blend the most authentic sounds of Italian singer-songwriter traditions with the harmonies and grooves of international neo-soul music, giving birth to Lost Generation(s). Through the interplay of Italian and English, jazz, soul, and R&B intertwine, creating unconventional structures and sudden shifts in scenery; her lyrics and melodies, inspired by Lucio Dalla and Fabrizio De André, meet the contemporary sound of artists like Hiatus Kaiyote, Jordan Rakei.
Cecilia Barra plays a sophisticated blend of contemporary neo-soul, jazz-funk, and alternative pop rooted in classic Italian singer-songwriter traditions.
