Latin rock band Chencha Berrinches (name based on Lorenza, aka Chencha, a woman from Guanajuato, Mexico) started playing in South Gate, CA, in 1997. The nine-piece ensemble called their style Mexisca, a mixture of Cumbia/pop, Latin ska, Mexican traditional music, and rock.
