Chicos y Mendez is the project of Belgian-Peruvian singer and songwriter David Méndez Yépez. A unique blend of organic warmth and contemporary grooves, sung in Spanish and French, reflecting a dual identity and a deep musical journey. Rooted between Europe and Latin America, the project has been creating honest and expressive music for over a decade. Songs that speak of exile, desire, love, anger, and resistance—with both intensity and awareness. Over the years, Chicos y Mendez has shared the stage with artists such as Manu Chao and Flavia Coelho, affirming a bold and borderless musical spirit. In recent times, the band toured across both continents, reconnecting with a vital part of its identity. “Primavera”, the first single from the upcoming album (due late September 2025), opens a new season: freer, brighter, and more grounded.
