With frantic energy and candid vulnerability, Brooklyn pop-punk band Cold Wrecks have returned with their third full-lengeth album 'You Can't Plan for This.' Through 27 minutes of punk, emo, and rock songs, the band grapples with grief, responsibility, and growth through back-and-forth vocals from singer-songwriters Craig Shay and Mike Vizzi. The band, which also includes drummer CJ Dunaieff and lead guitarist Tan Uchen, is the product of long-lasting friendships. Since the release of their 2016 debut album ‘Breaking’, they’ve kept themselves busy, releasing several EPs and singles, including their mental health manifesto “Therapy” (from 2017’s ‘Savannah’), and playing events such as The Fest in Gainesville FL and Pouzza Fest in Montreal. After their sophomore LP 'This Could Be Okay' was released in 2019, their pandemic slowdown segued into a new-parent slowdown, as they released a handful of singles as well as the 'Feels Like Defeat' EP in 2023. When they came back together to finally write their third LP, which they recorded themselves in Craig's basement, the experiences of the intervening years (births, deaths, navigating an increasingly harsh world) loomed over the writing and production, and the result is their most authentic, eclectic, and urgent to date. The album, which was released August 7th 2026, is available on their Bandcamp for vinyl/digital purchase and free download.
