An underground ambient jazz artist.
Dario Jacque is the alter ego of bassist, composer and producer Dario Giacovelli, born in Puglia and based in Rome. Blending jazz, soul and electronic sounds, he began his professional career performing with pianist and composer Amedeo Tommasi. He founded Bravo Baboon, Saint Voyage and Hodo, and has performed with Mostro, Serena Brancale, Whitemary, Alan Sorrenti, Chiara Civello, Joe Victor, Javier Girotto, Vince Mendoza, Fabrizio Bosso, Kurt Elling, Rosario Giuliani, Jay Clayton, Tonina and others. He also composes music for film soundtracks and took part in the Venice Biennale with the short film Chromatica. In 2021 he released his debut album Wait, What?!, followed by productions for Bordeaux, including their debut Pesa tutto il mondo addosso (distribution Sony Music). His latest album, SANG, explores rhythm, identity and sound through Mediterranean and tribal influences, a pulp aesthetic and a strong connection to global Southern cultures
