Deceptor

Deceptor (North Carolina, USA) are a death/thrash trio driven strictly by the underground movement of 1988-1992, founded by Gabriel Earley (composer, lyricist, graphic designer, studio mix/producer). In early 2022, Gabriel began writing and recording a few songs and would release the demo 'Bound by Ritual' in May 2022. A few months after releasing the demo, the lineup expanded when guitarist Preston Lanier joined in June 2022 after Earley approached him at an Exodus show with a CD copy of the demo. Then, in October of that year, drummer Andrew Harper joined the band after witnessing one of their performances. Together, the power-trio recorded, mixed, and released the Bathed in Blood EP in 2023 and, the following year, the “Street General” digital single – both recordings setting the stage for their inevitable debut album. With influences ranging from (the true) Sepultura, Whiplash, Sacred Reich, Viogression, Obituary, Cancer, and Gorguts, the band delivers a death thrash attack reminiscent of the era they seek to emulate. Not only does the band’s display of instrumental proficiency provide a testament to this, but their studio production is also laser-focused on reaching that balance between raw and refined. We are proud to claim that all elements of the band (aside from illustrations) are proudly sourced inward – recording/engineering, mix/mastering, graphic design, etc. are all the works of the band members themselves.
