DeLange

DeLange (1972) is a Dutch neo-romantic composer and pianist. Experiencing music as colors and shapes (a condition called chromesthesia), he approaches each composition like a painting in sound. Today, he represents a distinct voice within the contemporary cinematic piano landscape, sharing common ground with figures like Max Richter, Ludovico Einaudi and Ólafur Arnalds while maintaining his own lyrical, color-driven identity. Born and raised in a musical family, DeLange grew up with the romantic and early modern piano traditions before completing his classical training at the conservatory. After decades of working behind the scenes as a pianist and accompanist, he debuted under his own name with Images (2020). He subsequently expanded his catalog with the solo piano albums Contemplations ~ Opus I & II (2022) and Miniatures (2023), followed by the chamber release La Présence d’un Rêve (2024). His latest full-length album, Études Mélancoliques ~ Opus I & II (released on May 8), presents a series of lyrical piano studies that blend technical exercises with a melancholic undertone.
