I am from Bosnia, take me to America! In 2026, that line went global. Dubioza Kolektiv’s “USA,” originally released in 2011 as a satirical take on emigration and the American Dream, became an unlikely FIFA World Cup anthem as Bosnia and Herzegovina returned to the tournament. What started with a banner in Cardiff spread through stadiums, street celebrations and international news. AP, BBC, Reuters, and Euronews covered the phenomenon, while Thierry Henry and Zlatan Ibrahimović sang the famous line on live TV. Dubioza answered with a new version, “I Am From Bosnia / Take Me to America,” filmed on a phone at a Sarajevo neighbourhood football pitch. The video passed 8 million YouTube views in weeks, while the original -opped 28 million. It’s the kind of absurd twist the band has been writing about since forming in post-war Bosnia in 2003. Mixing Balkan sounds with ska, punk, reggae, hip-hop and electronics, they built a reputation for outspoken lyrics, independence and explosive live shows. On stage, they're relentless. They've sold out Balkan arenas and played Glastonbury, Roskilde, Lollapalooza, Lowlands, Boomtown Fair, Paaspop, Wacken Open Air and Vive Latino. More than twenty years in, they remain a relentlessly touring, high-energy live act, combining infectious rhythms, absurdist humour and sharp political commentary.
