Ensemble Appassionato

Appassionato is an ensemble founded and directed by Mathieu Herzog to per- form the great vocal and orchestral works of the repertory. Through its eclectic programming, precise ensemble work, clarity of timbre and instrumental cohesion, the Ensemble Appassionato offers a new, elegant and accessible vision of the great orchestral masterpieces, served by the intoxi- cating and communicative energy of the most talented musicians of the young generation. During its first three years of existence, the ensemble performed in concerts and festivals such as the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Salle Pleyel, La Seine Musicale, the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord and the Festival Berlioz – La Côte- Saint-André, and recorded several albums (Universal, Warner, Sony, naïve). The open-mindedness and enthusiasm of its members stimulate the ensemble to participate in a multitude of events. Recordings of classical music, jazz, film soundtracks and concerts of all kinds all feature among Appassionato’s many activities. This desire to share music with as many people as possible, which lies at the heart of the Appassionato project, encourages the ensemble to place the accent on contact and discussion with the audience at its concerts. In 2018 the Ensemble Appassionato wrote a new page in its history by creating a Web series focusing on emotion in music, the first instalment of which is devoted to Mozart. This recording of his last three symphonies is Appassionato’s first for the naïve label.
