An underground indie folk artist.
E.R. Thorpe is a singer-songwriter and visual artist whose haunting sound blends poetic storytelling with raw emotional depth. Raised in rural North Nottinghamshire by a blues guitarist father and a folk-inspired mother, she draws on a natural world rich with texture, memory, and meaning. Her debut LP, Human Love (March 2026), is an intimate reflection on resilience and renewal. Produced by Jim Baron of Crazy P following his acclaimed Love Makes Magic LP, the record showcases the creative collaboration of Nottingham’s vibrant scene, featuring contributions from Huw Costin (Torn Sail, Brown Fang), Kev Bales (Spiritualized), Matt Klose (Crazy P) and renowned jazz bassist Simon Paterson. Performing regularly with The Low Drift, a collective inspired by the folklore and stories of the British Isles, Thorpe captivates audiences with a quiet, magnetic presence. Her voice carries both strength and vulnerability, and her songs are crafted to resonate deeply in intimate and grand settings. Drawing comparisons to Nick Cave’s lyrical depth and the stark beauty of Sally Mann’s photography, her upcoming single, Human Love, from the album of the same name, has been released in December on Vicious Charm Recordings. Label boss and Skint founder Damian Harris signed her after falling in love with Emma’s EP Guided By The Sea (Came Death) in 2023.
