Paris-based rock band Film Noir opens a new chapter four years after their debut album Palpitant (2022) with double single “Viens tiens toi / Vegita”, a promising first taste of a series of new tracks set to be released later this year. Formed by Joséphine and Alexandre de La Baume (vocals, keyboards), Martin Rocchia (guitar) and Victor Le Dauphin (bass), Film Noir is an organic unit, a family bound by blood and by the stage. Recorded at the legendary Studio de La Frette and produced by Carlos O’Connell of Fontaines D.C., these new tracks signal a clear shift. The band moves away from post‑punk swirls to explore broader, more open textures, drawing inspiration from a vibrant strain of 1990s indie rock. Within the walls of this history‑soaked villa, Joséphine de La Baume’s voice finds a new resonance: deeper, more direct, more upfront. Since debut EP Vertiges, crafted between Los Angeles and Paris, Film Noir has drawn key figures of contemporary rock into its orbit, from Cole Alexander (Black Lips) and Sacha Got (La Femme) to Carlos O’Connell and Tom Coll of Fontaines D.C. Championed by France Inter and BBC 6 Music, this first statement established the band’s signature: a raw, sensitive frenglish, capable of shifting from feverish romanticism to vengeful punk. Today, Film Noir tightens the focus. The songs become snapshots of moments of crisis: intimate scenarios where lyrics navigate the edges of emotional breakdown and electric release.
