Flagrant II is the solo project of Brooklyn musician Alex Kirkpatrick, formerly the drummer, songwriter, and bandleader of indie rock band Loosie. Flagrant II marks a move from Loosie's expansive and shoegaze-inflected rock sound to more intimate songs, influenced by slowcore and bedroom pop. The debut five-song EP "Shallot Eyes," releasing November 6, 2026, was written, recorded, and produced in Kirkpatrick's Crown Heights apartment and features him singing and playing almost every instrument, with former Loosie bassist Ben Murphy featured on two songs. Sonically diverse but melodically and lyrically driven, the music draws on influences ranging from Grouper's ambient experimentalism to Chris Weisman's DIY songcraft and grows from roots in jazz and free improvised music.
