An underground hip hop artist.
Fred Gata is a Rwandan-Belgian artist whose voice lies somewhere between warm tea and a smoky Sunday evening. Blending hip-hop and soul, he performs with raw energy, natural charisma, and lyrics that cut deep. In 2023, he won both the jury and audience prizes at Sound Track, leading to shows alongside Martha Da’ro, Hak Baker, and Antony Szmierek. Beyond the stage, Fred uplifts young, unpolished talent through vi.be’s First Aid program and events like ‘Grab The Mic’ and ‘RAUW’, creating spaces where artists can grow and stumble freely. Also a photographer and painter, he tells stories that words can’t always hold—raw, emotional, and honest. His social voice is equally genuine: through the ‘Legende in de Living’ podcast and the Mental Health Expo at De Roma, he opens conversations about vulnerability and intergenerational trauma. Now, with his seven-piece band Fred Gata And The Mothership, he’s building a soundscape of soul, hip-hop, and heartfelt chaos—a universe of tears, dancing, and quiet revolution.
