Fred Roberts
A queer indie artist.
Fred Roberts makes bold, emotive pop that’s both anthemic and introspective. His work captures the struggles of growing up in the modern day and the questioning of one’s identity. He’s been on the cover of Gay Times, earned a BBC Radio 1 “Future Bop” on Mollie King’s show, and played major UK festivals including Boardmasters, Latitude and Truck. He’s also supported Griff across Europe and toured the UK with Nieve Ella. His debut EP Sound of My Youth (2024) mixes diaristic storytelling with poignant melodies, drawing from his own experiences while still resonating universally. As Rolling Stone notes, “Fred Roberts is emerging as a bold and honest voice in UK pop music” Now he’s starting a new chapter with Object of Desire (August 2025), written in LA with Andrew Wells (Phoebe Bridgers, Halsey) and Anthony Rossomando (Lady Gaga, Dirty Pretty Things). Stripped-back and guitar driven, it reflects on transactional intimacy, self worth, and the cycle of wanting to be more than just someone’s fleeting desire. Photos by - Millie Jamieson
