From Dust

From Dust (aka Trevor Brandt) is an emotional dance music artist from San Francisco, CA. Trevor’s passion for music began as a child in church in Zimbabwe, Africa, where he saw how community and music were intrinsically connected and how music can lead to emotionally transformative experiences. Later, he moved to California where he played in bands and was later introduced to electronic music and DJing, becoming so obsessed with it that he dragged his desktop computer to house parties, mixing using a mouse and keyboard. He soon became enamored with music production and enjoyed being able to fully express his creative visions. He also organized events locally and became drawn to electronic music's ability to evoke emotionally transformative experiences at a new kind of church - the dancefloor. His love for music has always been firmly rooted in its ability to deeply connect us with ourselves and bring people together. His productions allude to that sense of emotional transformation and are characterized by beautiful, intimate melodies and driving hypnotic rhythms. The“From Dust” project is inspired by the idea that everything comes from nothingness, including ourselves, and that we choose our meaning and can also discover meaning through the act of creation. It is also a message of humility in the face of ego as we remember that we came from dust, and while we briefly hold this form, to dust we will one day return.
