Geplantes Nichtstun
An underground downtempo artist.
Since the first release in 2018 Geplantes Nichtstun has put out nearly 50 tracks, now peaking with the second EP on Serafin Audio. Through Amselcom - a big hug to Andreas - the tunes finally reached a large crowd, while enabling me to work with all kinds of labels, DJs and musicians. Not to forget my second half Marcel Schneider, who is still doing the mixdown for all tracks due to unfathomable resonance in his primary studio, which is still the bedroom. Geplantes Nichtstun - German for „planned idleness“- was not conceived as an entity transmitting sound far and wide. It was established around 2006 for a then new electronic project. Most people call the artist just „Geplantes“, not knowing his face, which tends to engender fun moments. He likes neither planes nor social media and keeps producing as a passionate, creative hobby. Whereas big or regular bookings were never part of the story, the very many encounters with wonderful people always were. The beauty of it is how the music has always been the link enabling these invaluable encounters. Inspired by a lot of downtempo artists like Wide Awake, El Buho, Xique-Xique and others, the music is quite complexly melodic, mostly somewhat dark, and yet very embracing. Geplantes Nichtstun remains open to collaboration in a broader artistic sense, trying to evolve 3D-sound, producing scores for short films, planning still to release a dozen tracks under a pseudonym. And showing up to clubs once in a while.
