A homegrown, raw folk artist.
Giorgio Zavos writes lonerish music drawing from the influence of outsider and underrated (or lesser known that should be) singer song writers. Growing up in Canada, he was introduced at an early age to American and UK folk and rock. Born to Greek parents, he moved to Athens at 13 with his mum and brother, journeying to a different set of sounds: Greek rock, psych and folk, creating a vast record collection along the way. Surprised that his friends didn’t know the extent of this world of Greek music and as a career skateboarder for most of his life, he dragged music from the fringes into his world, using underground music as the background to his skating image. After multiple injuries and surgeries, bedbound, he took to writing his own music that flips between pop and folk standards to weeping guitars, stumbling drums and wavy keys, straight from his room.
Giorgio Zavos plays intimate lo-fi folk and outsider singer-songwriter music featuring acoustic guitar and raw bedroom recordings.
