GOSSIP POET draws from a complex experience growing up a hapless queer teen living in foster homes after being separated from his family, ultimately finding himself in NYC, alone with just a mattress, a laptop and little piano, in a tiny one room studio flat in Manhattan. Here, Sasha began to put his time into writing music. While playing little piano ballads in dive bars around New York, it was LA based indie record label owner Chloe Chaidez that happened upon Gossip Poet in Brooklyn, that marked a collaboration that defined the start of his career. in writing his debut album LAAKE EERIE, Sasha wrote about loss, sex work, violence, & love. With LAAKE EERIE, an intimate expressive voice, Gossip Poet feels vulnerable, and authentic. and queer. Sasha debuts an exploration of queerness and vulnerability told through soft lyrics, sweeping piano melodies & haunting harmonies. On LAAKE EERIE, Cromwell crafts a blend of lo-fi sonic minimalist piano ballads with a dramatic vaporwave liminal ambience.
