An underground southern gothic act.
San Francisco based Americana duo, Gutter Swan features the emotive vocals of Loryn Barbeau and the complex yet disarming guitar of Steve Egelman. A former classical singer, Loryn joined up with Steve Egelman, a singer-songwriter in his own right, and founding member of the whiskey-soaked blues ensemble, Mad Mama and the Bona Fide Few. Soon the duo was playing regularly in San Francisco-Bay Area clubs, such as The Hotel Utah Saloon, Hopmonk Taven, The Lost Church, The Fillmore Poster Room, Amnesia, PianoFight, Neck of the Woods, Fenix Supper Club, and 19 Broadway to name a few. In 2019, Gutter Swan released their debut album, "where the dark and the light mingle". A collection of 12 songs, recorded at legendary Hyde Street Studios, Gutter Swan selected material, Steve describes as “That intersection of joy and sadness, hope and despair, possibilities and finalities”. “Life is built on so many different experiences continuously running together”, Loryn says, “It’s standing in that spot where the tunnel ends or begins, and the light is soft and hazy. Where dark and light magnify each other and both can be scary and beautiful. The band is headed back in the recording studio in early 2020.
