A polished, nostalgic classical artist.
Violinist Hawijch Elders (b. 1998) is a musician of exceptional technical mastery and profound musicality. Recognized as one of the most promising violinists of her generation, she has captivated audiences and juries with her distinctive voice and compelling stage presence. A defining moment in her career came in June 2025, when Hawijch won the First Prize at the Premio Internazionale Antonio Mormone in Milan. Her competition success is extensive, including First Prize at the Henri Marteau International Violin Competition (2023), where she also received three special awards, and being a laureate of the renowned Premio Paganini in Genoa (2023). Another major achievement includes winning the Audience Prize at the Oskar Back Violin Competition (2018). In recognition of her talent, she was awarded the Violin Grant from the Kersjes Fund. Hawijch’s completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees cum laude at the Conservatorium Amsterdam with Ilya Grubert. Since 2022, she has been an Artist in Residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Waterloo, studying under mentorship of Augustin Dumay. As a soloist, Hawijch has performed with orchestras such as the Wiener KammerOrchester, the Belgian National Orchestra, the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, the Nürnberger Symphoniker and the Stuttgarter Philharmoniker. Hawijch performs on a Gennaro Gagliano violin (Naples, ca. 1755) and uses a Dominique Pecatte bow, both generously on loan from Netherlands Musical Instrument Foundation.
Hawijch Elders performs classical violin repertoire, spanning romantic and contemporary works as both a soloist and chamber musician.
