Highway Lights is the dynamic songwriting and music production duo formed by brother-in-laws Jeremy Jongejan and Cory Kent. Combining their unique backgrounds and talents, the pair creates a richly textured sound that draws from 70s rock and roll, 80s pop, modern folk, and cinematic underscoring. Their music is both nostalgic and forward-thinking, delivering melodies and lyrics that resonate deeply with listeners. Jeremy, hailing from Goderich, Ontario, Canada, contributes lead vocals, guitar parts, and a keen lyrical and compositional sensibility to the partnership. His musical journey began as the frontman of The Ashgrove, a rock and roll band where he honed his craft as a songwriter and performer. Cory, who grew up in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, brings his expertise in orchestration, piano, electric bass, musical arrangements, and audio production to Highway Lights. With a background in theatrical sound design and a career spanning over two decades in church ministry, Cory’s experience leading worship and implementing production technology shines through in the duo’s polished and emotive sound. Highway Lights represents the culmination of their lifelong passion for storytelling and a shared love of diverse musical genres. Together, Jeremy and Cory blend their talents to craft songs that are as expansive and cinematic as they are intimate and heartfelt.
