Harlem Farr, also known as hrlum, is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from Spartanburg, South Carolina whose trance-inducing sound invites listeners into heightened experiences. Often described as dreamy and transcendental, her music emerges from a lifelong relationship with sound. She discovered her musical voice at six years old, teaching herself piano by ear—an early act of exploration that continues to shape how she engages with instruments as tools for truth-telling and cosmic expression. With dual bachelor’s degrees in Music Theory/Composition and Spanish, Harlem brings an academic yet intuitive sensibility to her work, balancing structural fluency with deep emotional and spiritual resonance. In addition to her work as a singer-songwriter, she is an active instrumentalist for other artists, further expanding her musical language through collaboration. Rooted in classical, jazz, neo-soul, and Brazilian musical traditions, Harlem’s sound glows with experimental vocal layering and a dreamlike, celestial warmth.
