From blissful ambience to crushing blast beats, Illuster sets out to combine the extreme with the serene. Illuster was founded in 2016 by Luuk Derksen in Haarlem, Netherlands, who was inspired by the diverse and touching songwriting of bands such as Cult of Luna, Alcest and Deafheaven. He set out to find likeminded musicians while writing songs that served as the basis for the debut EP ‘Iridescent’, which was released in the fall of 2019. In December 2021 the band released their first videoclip for the single ‘Magnolia’, with support from NHPOP and their ‘Popkanjers’ initiative. 2026 sees the long anticipated release of the second EP ‘From Azure To Dust’, mixed by Tim de Gieter (Much Luv Studio) and mastered by Jack Shirley (The Atomic Garden). The songs take you on a journey from the crushing depths of the ocean to the void of the dark night sky, showcasing the wide range of Illuster’s musical influences and a new line-up stronger than ever before. “An azure embrace leads me astray From the light, back to dust.” Illuster is: Luuk Derksen - Guitar & Vocals Géraldine Pinon - Synthesizer & Vocals Jordy Licht - Guitar Wouter Jansen - Bass Steven Leijen - Drums
