Irina Sarbu
Irina Sarbu is a romanian jazz & ethnojazz singer. The repertoire consists of genres such as jazz, ethnojazz, samba, bossa nova, french music, classical music, romanian music and folklore. Irina is unique and original in the interpretation and spectacular through expressivity, improvisation, imagination, demonstration of virtuosity in solo and group technique. Born in July 1983 in Bucharest (Romania), Irina Sarbu grew up in a musical household. She graduated music (piano) and acting school. At 16 years old she fell in love with jazz and started to perform in clubs, shows and festivals around the country. In 2004 she won the "Debut Prize" at the Romanian Radio Jazz Awards Gala together with pianist, conductor and composer Andrei Tudor and in 2011 she won the "Youh Of Jazz Prize" in Bucharest. She recorded three jazz albums - "World Symphony" (2007) together with Marius Mihalache Band, "Sapte Scari/Seven Stairs" (2015) together with ETHNOTIC Project, album that won the "Ethnojazz Album Of Year 2015 Prize" and, her most recent album, "At The End Of July" (2023), an 100% original album, entirely written by her and arranged by pianist Sorin Zlat. She successfully performed in New York, Washington, London, Paris, Izmir, Athens, Madrid, Vienna, Venice, Brussels, Prague, Lisbon, Stockholm, Jerusalem, Milan, Djerba, Chisinau - in club recitals or national and international jazz festivals.
