James Ferraro (b. November 7, 1986) is a musician and composer from New York. Ferraro has released a large quantity of varied material under a wide array of aliases, dating back to his time as a member of the Californian two-piece The Skaters in the early 2000s, he received wider recognition when his album Far Side Virtual was chosen as Album of the Year by The Wire. His experimental work has been credited with pioneering 21st century music styles such as hypnagogic pop and vaporwave, and often explores subjects such as hyperreality, consumer culture, and technology.
