Johannes Astrup

With a sharp sense of groove and vibe, Copenhagen-based DJ and producer Johannes Astrup has built a reputation as a versatile and reliable selector. Navigating between cheeky, vocal-layered hardgroove and hypnotizing old-school techno filled with haunting loops, Johannes’ sets are always evolving, dynamically adapting and guaranteed to move the floor. Johannes began his journey in electronic music over a decade ago, organizing DIY raves with his crew Seaworld. Since then, he has become a key figure on the Copenhagen scene. In 2022, he co-founded Den Anden Side — now arguably the most famous underground nightclub in Scandinavia — and more recently launched the DJ collective Postyr together with four other notable Copenhagen-based DJs. As a producer, Johannes Astrup has released a string of well-received records on respected labels including Mord, Drawner Records, MZR, and PRX Records, among others. Several of his tracks have received widespread support, most notably “Salsa Lessons,” which has been played by techno heavyweights Marcel Dettmann and Ben Klock. Alongside running a nightclub and maintaining a steady studio output, Johannes also finds time to tour the world with his music. In recent years he has performed across Europe and beyond, with appearances as far as Georgia and Kazakhstan. Through his work as a DJ, producer, promoter, and club co-founder, Johannes Astrup continues to shape and support the techno landscape both in Copenhagen and beyond.
