Joseph Beuys was a seminal German avant-garde artist and theorist whose experimental sound recordings, such as 'Sonne statt Reagan,' merge Neue Deutsche Welle aesthetics with Fluxus performance art. Associated with conceptual sculpture and social sculpture, his work challenges traditional boundaries between art and everyday life. His recordings remain a vital touchstone for experimental and spoken-word music.
