A homegrown, underground spoken word artist.
Since the early 1980's, Belgium based musician (and architect/visual artist) Jan Van den Broeke has been active under many aliases. Among them are June11, Absent Music and The Misz, which are combined on the retrospective compilations 11000 Dreams (Stroom 2017) and Lost And Latest (EE Tapes 2020). June11 put Jan (older and wiser) back on track in the 21st century, with new tools and new friends. Inspired by the longing to be silent and speak at the same time, quit the crazy scene, renunciate, find emptiness, find beauty, dissolve in the moment… June11 makes downtempo art synth pop and dreamy ambient. The project is influenced by the likes of Harold Budd, Brian Eno and many more great poets through the ages. Jan’s latest album Time and Desire (EE Tapes 2022) draws mostly on brand new June11 works. Time and Desire is an artful and enchanting album, exploring a dream - layered - fluid - slow - sensitive - simple - almost (im)possible - righteous world.’ 2026 will be a very special year for Jan with a brand new album coming up. The first 2026 June11 single 'Rainer Maria Rilke' will be released on 9 January 2026. This track is for all the sensitive among us, for all poets and poetry lovers....
