An underground, high-energy experimental jazz artist.
Karkait is an international metal trio, originally formed in Jerusalem in late 2017 and currently based in Zurich, Switzerland. Karkait’s sound draws from grindcore, noise, black metal and hardcore, later expanding into free improvisation, experimental music, electronics and folk elements while maintaining a distinctly metal foundation. The band is known for its chaotic sound, fractured rhythms and intense live performances, avoiding strict genre definitions in favour of extreme emotional and sonic expression. Karkait is an evolving artistic entity whose practice extends beyond the conventional format of a metal band. Over the years, the project has expanded into theatre, performance art, exhibitions and electronic live sets, with each phase reflecting new artistic directions while remaining rooted in its extreme musical language. Their first EP, Yekum//Kiyum was released in 2019. In 2021, Karkait signed with the German label Wolves and Vibrancy, releasing their second EP Yevul on 12" vinyl, alongside Yekum//Kiyum. In late 2024, the band began working on a new album. In 2025, they entered the studio for a two-week recording residency, during which they wrote, produced and recorded their debut full length album. The album will be released on the 4th of September 2026 via the Paris based ORTHODOX Records.
