An underground post-rock artist.
KATIEE is the project of songwriter, producer and dancer H.K. Eastburn. A choreographer before she was a musician, Eastburn scored her own dance work before co-founding the Los Angeles experimental trio Young People, whose records appeared on 5RC, Too Pure and Dim Mak. As KATIEE, she has released the 7" Passersby, the cassette Sudden Fear and the 2016 album Out All Night, collage-like art pop built on dark synths, drum machines and her Katie's often haunting vocals. Resonant Objects, her first studio album in ten years, turns a lifetime of transformation and loss into eight songs of darkly glimmering synth pop aimed straight at the dance floor. Written, recorded and produced by Eastburn over three intense years, with appearances from Cory Bracken (American Football) and Mark Shue (Guided by Voices), it draws on memories reaching back three decades. It doesn't dwell in the darkness. It's a release, an exhalation and an invitation to dance.
