Kemuel Roig

Award-winning Cuban-American pianist, composer, and bandleader Kemuel Roig is recognized as one of the most exciting voices in contemporary jazz. Acclaimed for his virtuosity, lyrical touch, and ability to blend Afro-Cuban rhythms with modern jazz, Roig has earned praise from legends such as Arturo Sandoval, Al Di Meola, Michel Camilo, and Chucho Valdés. Born in Cuba and based in United States, Roig studied at Cuba’s National Vocational Art School before earning a Master’s Degree from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. A DownBeat Student Award winner, he spent nearly a decade touring and recording with Arturo Sandoval and has also collaborated with Chris Potter, Randy Brecker, Giovanni Hidalgo, Sammy Figueroa, and many others. In 2026, Roig released two critically acclaimed projects. Both Sides Now, a solo piano album featuring interpretations of jazz and Latin American standards, was described by Ted Panken as “a brilliant solo piano recital.” He also released 3Discovery, a piano trio recording that explores the intersection of Afro-Cuban traditions and modern jazz.
