KHEMEIA is the musical union of Italian vocalist Aurora Marchese and Icelandic guitarist Mikael Máni Ásmundsson (Best Jazz Album – Icelandic Music Awards 2024). Born in Amsterdam during their studies, their music blends the intimacy of folk and the harmonic flavour of jazz, always led by storytelling and emotion.Despite their different roots, Aurora and Mikael found a shared language built on lyrics, sonic detail, and an unexpected mutual love of chocolate. Khemeia (from the Greek “χημεία”, meaning to fuse together ) reflects this alchemy: two worlds merging into one sound. Inspired by artists like Bob Dylan and Norah Jones and the cinematic aspect of film music, they create alternative pop where they search for beauty in the ordinary and the extraordinary.
